Recap | Boxscore

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers can win three in a row for the first time in a month on Sunday when they face the Houston Astros in the season finale for both teams at Minute Maid Park.

The Brewers have won the last two games of the four-game series to help eliminate the Astros from postseason contention. They have not won three consecutive games since a season-high 10-game run from August 19-28.

Milwaukee has won just six of its last 22 games after posting a 5-2 victory over Houston on Saturday.

Wes Helms hit his 23rd homer of the season and rookie Scott Podsednik drove in three runs, including two with a bases-loaded double, for the Brewers, who scored all their runs with two outs.

Morgan Ensberg homered and Jeff Kent hit an RBI single for the Astros, who were eliminated when the Chicago Cubs swept a doubleheader from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Houston's Wade Miller tries to bounce back from his worst start of the season and end the year on a positive note on Sunday.

Miller (14-13, 4.13 ERA) was shelled for nine runs - four earned - and six hits in just 1 2/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

The hard-throwing righthander has allowed just three runs in 14 innings in two starts against Milwaukee this season. He is 10-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 14 lifetime appearances against the Brewers.

Milwaukee hands the ball to Ben Sheets, who is trying for his career-high 12th victory.

Sheets (11-13, 4.45), who has won 11 games in each of his first three seasons, has failed to get his 12th win in his last two starts. He surrendered five runs and nine hits in six innings in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old righthander is 6-2 with a 3.26 ERA in 10 career stars against Houston, including 2-0 this season.
